Jenny McCarthy Does The Rounds...
Wow, I was moved by just the thought. Oprah Winfrey hosting a show, totally dedicated to something so ignored by our publicly elected, and our general population.
As I heard about it, but did not see the actual show, how is it that a former Playboy Playmate, a self professed "good time girl" (with no specific science, much less medically based education), able to accomplish what some 'so called experts' can't. That, after years of study and decades of experience? I guess it has something to do with one, an open mind, barring years of 'biased thinking' & being able to say, 'it does or doesn't work'.
Two, effort and willingness to go out on a wing, risking painful ridicule in the words of so called professionals & naysayers. And three, love (which I've heard is unstoppable), forcing one to immerse themselves "totally", and making strides to study a specific entity (or person in this case), in the process of making things right .
Mixing the three together, apparently, causes nothing less than a miraculous event.
Jenny McCarthy set the tone & the stage for Autism awareness, and put the world on notice by appearing on Oprah, Larry King Live, People Magazine (October 1, 2007 issue), and a host of other shows and publications for the day.
I don't know how she was able to do it, but she also managed to write a book called "Louder than Words" in the process. All while at the same time being a mom, a public figure and educator to other struggling parents, battling the effects of Autism.
Any how, given how she, Holly Robinson Peete and Jenny's Doctor (the name leaves me) rocked the "Larry King Show" with such genuine vigor, I have a whole different view of these folks, and their sincerity about health, children, & life.
Jim Carrey, the many-a-kids favorite funny man and McCarhy's beau, has had new light shed on him. People who assume things about him or peg him a certain way can now add surrogate therapist to the list. Given his relationship with Jenny's son and Carrey's support of his recovery, who could say anything negative about what HE is about.
As was said in an earlier blog, for Jenny, it all comes down to childhood inoculations & the old words, "you are what you eat." Get the book.
